I suppose I should tell you a little bit about myself and the orgins of this site. Having spent most of my adut life involved in sport, physical eductaion (I am a former physical education teacher) and weight training, I believe that there is no better way to educate our youth than through movement.
I have been a certified personal trainer since 2002 and have witnessed how a strong and healthy body can translate into a strong and healthy mind and soul. This is in part why, when trying to decide on a final project to complete my master degree in educational leadeship from Memorial University I decided to develop this site.
I hope the creation of this learning community becomes a valuable resource for those of you who are trying educate our youth on the importance and value of physical fitness. In future posts, I will discuss why there is a need for this site, how physical fitness fits into the physical education realm, and a multitude of other topics that relate to teaching youth about fitness – not the least of which will be how to perform exercises correctly.
I have decided to create a compliment section for this site which will serve as a location for information that is for teachers eyes only. It is my goal that the information found on this site will help teachers in developing and implementing quality physical education programs targetting fitness – which hopefully will result in a life long desire by our youth to remain fit and healthy throughout their adult life.
